Just Sayin'

Peter Gammons is reporting on ESPN.com that the Cleveland Indians will trade troubled centerfielder Milton Bradley within the next 72-hours. I will leave it to others to debate the value of Bradley's talent vs. the trouble he brings with it. What got me thinking is the the fact that Bradley will make $1.73 million this year and if the Indians replace Bradley with a player making less than $1 million - then the Indians will join three other teams with payrolls less than that of the Montreal Expos.

Think about that for a moment.

Potentially the Indians, Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay and Milwaukee will have lower payroll salaries than the Expos this year. There is something seriously wrong with that. If I were a fan of the Indians, Devil Rays, Pirates or Brewers - I'd be pretty pissed off about it.
