Let Kerry be Kerry

Senator John Kerry recently unvieled a new campaign slogan of "Let America be America again." The folks at National Review Online believe this line was lifted / in homage to a Lanston Hughes poem. They think too much.

The line was more likely lifted / in homage to the show The West Wing where one of the episodes was called "Let Bartlett Be Bartlett." I figured I would bring this up before the slogan goes away and is replaced (because it will be replaced - it's not a good campaign slogan).

My favorite campaign slogan of all-time was Ronald Reagan's "Elect me and let's all forget the Carter Presidency ever existed."
