Miscellaneous Thoughts

I wonder if Niagra Falls is technically classified as a Class VI rapids?... The fact that both the Sony Walkman and Kevin Youkilis made their debuts on this earth in 1979 keeps coming back to me. Part of me thinks that in honor of that fact - Kevin Youkilis should be nicknamed "the Walkman". The other part of me realizes that "the Walkman" isn't that great a nickname and that the "Greek God of Walks" is so much better... John Kerry has gained a little bit of ground in the Presidential odds. Right now you would have to risk $150 to win $100 on President Bush but $100 risked on Senator Kerry would win $110 (last week it was -$155 to +$115)... The politics of the world in a nut shell - Amnesty International spends more time in their latest report berating the US than any other country in the world. More proof that playing politics is more important than upholding founding principles. More proof that fundraising (preying on the guilt of the left) is more important to Amnesty International than helping prevent genocide. No word if Michael Moore and Kim Jong Il will turn the report into a movie in time for next year's Cannes Film Festival... Just a reminder - the Boston Celtics owned the first round draft pick from the Denver Nuggets with the option to excercise it in 2002 or wait a year and take it in 2003. Boston decided to take it in 2002 instead of waiting a year. In 2003 - the Denver pick ended up being Carmelo Anthony... Much has been made about Calgary Flames captain Jarome Iginla touching the conference championship trophy (and thus jinxing his team) but what is being ignored is the fact that as a team - the Flames have the better playoff beards (another time honored tradition). So don't the two cancel each other out? (I'm still rooting for Tampa Bay BTW)... Rose Richie was the highest finishing woman in the WSOP - coming in 98th place (winning $20,000). It's hard not to root for her after reading this article on her...
