Thomson - 5-4, 13 starts, 77.1 IP, 4.31 ERA, 1.49 WHIP, .306 BAA

Maddux is the better pitcher (a first ballot Hall of Famer) but at this stage of his career his edge is only slight over Thomson and probably not worth the $4.5 million difference in player salary.
