Sports Shorts

Spanning the world of sports while making relatively short and hopefully insightful or pithy comments.

So it turns out that Tom Brady played half a season with a sports hernia - the same type of injury that forced Donovan McNabb to sit out most of the year. I think its worthy of note that Brady never once used his injury as an excuse and while McNabb is spending his offseason re-hashing disagreements with Terrell Owens - Brady spends his offseasons in more worthy pursuits without complaint (and yes I know that's an old picture of Brady)... I think its funny that ABC won't show the Go-Daddy commercials during the Super Bowl. Go-Daddy has already generated a ton of buzz because of the refusal by ABC and now it doesn't even have to pay ABC anything. Its a win-win for Go-Daddy... Does anyone take anything that Joey Porter says seriously?... The Winter Olympics starts in a week. Does anyone really care? I'd have more interest if they included sports like drunken skiing and ice rugby. They could easily change the Biathlon so that instead of taking a rifle shot at a target - the skiers take a shot of booze that symbolizes the host country (what is a good booze for Italy?). I bet the new event would get better ratings than the real Biathlon... Where Roger Clemens plays and whether Jeff Bagwell can play at all seems to be the biggest stories to be resolved in Spring Training. I'm guessing Roger stays with the Astros and that Bagwell is forced to retire.
