Lerner Wins Nationals Bid - Malek and Powell Lose

Real estate mogul Theodore Lerner was awarded the Washington Nationals by Bud Selig. That means that Colin Powell, who was part of the group headed up by Fred Malek and Jeffrey Zients, is left out in the cold.

Powell must have known this was coming. This helps explain why he has be so much more "visible" in recent weeks.

I really like Powell and I don't blame him for taking a higher PR stance now that he needs to get those speaking engagements to pay the bills. Still - I hope and pray that the owners in baseball realize how valuable Powell could be to the game and dump Selig (who in the past pledged to retire in 2006 anyway) and make Colin Powell Commissioner of Baseball.
