Odds to Win 2008 Republican Presidential Nomination

Here are my best estimates at the odds for the top Republican Party candidates to win their party's nomination for President.

Rudolph Guiliani - 2 to 1
Fred Thompson - 3 to 1
Mitt Romney - 4 to 1
John McCain - 4 to 1
Newt Gingrich - 20 to 1
Field - 25 to 1

The Field bet would include candidates such as Mike Huckabee, Ron Paul, Sam Brownback, Duncan Hunter and non-announced potential candidates like Chuck Hagel.

I'm pretty sure the nomination on the Republican side will come down to either Guiliani, Romney or Thompson. I don't see John McCain recovering from the Immigration debacle. The biggest knock against Gingrich are issues in his personal life but if Guiliani can insulate and isolate adultery-type issues then I would look for the odds on Gingrich to drop once he announces in September. The odds were arrived at by looking at odds at various off-shore betting houses with the compilation at Oddschecker.com being especially helpful.
