Nicolas Bate has a list of 22 things that should make your life better or as he puts it - 22 Brilliant at the Basics. As with any of these types of lists you need to customize it to make it your own. Here's the changes I'd make to the list:
4. Make your own bread (no thanks I'm trying to eliminate bread from my diet)
6. Manage your moods (I've taken to telling myself "I choose to be happy" recently and it is helpful)
7. Write every day in your journal (I'd simplify that to just "Write every day")
