Top 5 - How I'd "Fix" the NFL

Here's how I'd "fix" the NFL.

1. Add an 18th week of games but keep a 16-game schedule. Teams get an extra bye week and the league and broadcasting partners get a whole other week of games for TV.

2. Have Thursday Night games all season. This too adds a few more games for the league and broadcast partners. Teams that play on Thursday night get the prior week off.

3. Teams get an extra active roster spot during the season. This adds 32 new jobs - big win for the Players Association.

4. Players who have been with a team for over 10-years who decide to retire but are still under contract get to keep their signing bonus. There's no reason a guy like Luke Kucehly who is a team icon but who retired because of concussions should have to partially return his last signing bonus. And there's no reason for that money to count against the salary cap for the Panthers.

5. Get rid of the All Pro game. It's silly - nobody really tries in the game and most players turn down the chance to play in it so the "honor" has been watered down. Replace the game with a televised awards show where the AFC and NFC announce their First Team All Pro and Second Team All Pro selections. Also use that same show to name the Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year and the NFL MVP and  Coach of the Year awards.
