Tommy Heinsohn

Tommy Heinsohn passed away this week. I had meant to post something earlier but I was traveling and quite frankly I don't have the words.

Tommy Heinsohn was a great big teddy bear of a man who was synonymous with the Boston Celtics as much or more so than anyone with the possible exception of Red Auerbach. If there was one word to summarize this great man I believe it would be authentic. There was only one Tommy Heinsohn. and Tommy Heinsohn was always true to himself.

The man was in the NBA Hall of Fame as both a player and a coach. His number was also retired from his alma mater Holy Cross. He loved his family, the Celtics, a cold adult beverage - in general the man loved life. He was part of the very fabric of Boston sports for the past 50-years.

There was only one Tommy Heinsohn. There will never be another. He will be missed.

  1. If only today's players were like Tommy Heinsohn, Bob Cousy, Robert Parrish, Havlicek and Bill Russell...
