The Standard Model and Dune

Currently reading Carlo Rovelli's book Reality is Not What It Seems: The Journey to Quantum Gravity as well as re-reading Frank Hebert's Dune (wanted to do that before the movie comes out).  There was something that jumped out at me as I happened to be reading Dune at night and then about the quest for quantum gravity in the morning:

"What senses do we lack that we cannot see or hear another world all around us?" - Frank Hebert Dune

"There is a phenomenon that might not be reducible to the Standard Model [of quantum field theory]; 'dark matter.'" - Carlo Rovelli Reality is Not What It Seems

My mind works differently than most and I was amused by the thought the two quotes were somehow related. I was even more amused when I wondered if the person who solves the riddle of dark matter should be declared the Kwisatz Haderach (Dune fans will get the reference).

Maybe it's just me.

  1. They're not going to find quantum gravity with current research, because their premises are flawed. the Copenhagen Interpretation blinds them to not just possibilities, but the truth.

Spacetime is a positive energy field from which all other fields draw their energy. Gravity and time dilation are effects of the gradient (curvature). That's it. It really is that simple. The trick is to first investigate the more fundamental question, "What is motion?"

  2. If you're talking about all the time wasted on String Theory - I agree 100%.

I have my own issues with Spacetime and I've been thinking of doing a longer post to go over them.
