Cat IIIc equipped aircraft will land themselves in zero visibility, they've been around for at least 15 years. Some of them will even apply the brakes after touchdown. About five years ago, Boeing published a study that showed Boeing pilots only fly the plane for 10 minutes per flight while Airbus pilots only fly 5 minutes.
