Saw the idea floated of coming out with a $250 bill with President Trump's portrait on it to celebrate the nation's 250th birthday. Not sure if this was floated as a joke or not but the idea is growing on me. Also get rid of the penny at the same time. Why not?

Why not? Well, for one thing we have a tradition of not putting living people -- especially politicians! -- on our currency. But more important, isn't Trump narcissistic enough already? Do we really want to create (or enhance) a Mao-style cult of personality around him? If we want to honor an outstanding American for our 250th anniversary, why not someone like Ronald Reagan?
