Mamdani's election on Tuesday reminds me of two sayings: "When a person tells you who they are - believe them" and Ted Nugent's quote of "You have to let the stupid people talk so we know who the stupid people are." Well Mamdani didn't hide who he is and the stupid people really showed us who they are. Just remember that Mamdani doesn't take office until January so be prepared to see the swarm of people fleeing NYC called "racists" or "Islamophobic" for not giving him a chance. You know those stories are coming.

Ready Player One
Finally watched the 2018 film version of Ready Player One. The movie is on Netflix and I liked it. It does differ from Ernest Cline's book (which I highly recommend) but the movie is true to the spirit of the material and if things are cut or changed it's understandable.
Outside of director Stephen Spielberg the movie doesn't really have any big "name" stars (unless you count Ben Mendelsohn or the small role by Simon Pegg who honestly I had to look up what part he did).
It's rated 7.4 on IMDB and has a 77% score from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. If you read the book - thinking you'll like it (if you haven't seen it already).

- Why a Value Added Tax is the wrong fit for the US. I tend to agree.
- The X-Bat looks pretty cool.
- President Trump's tariffs vs the Supreme Court's duties. Think that tariffs are part of trade deals with foreign nations and are reciprocal are the key. The Constitution only gives the President power to negotiate foreign agreements. Plus the exploding national debt can be termed an emergency.
- 'People are tired:' Democrats splinter as shutdown nears record. Don't think they thought through the optics of not wanting to reopen the government because Senators may not want to work through the Christmas holidays.

Yesterday was a busy day in news. It was election day and the NFL trade deadline while today the Supreme Court is scheduled to hear the tariffs case. So much going on I didn't even have time to comment on Portugal seizing a narco-sub with 1.7 metric tons of cocaine. Have the feeling won't have the chance to catch my breath today either.

Player Comparison
With today's 4:00 PM trade deadline this player comparison occurred to me.
Player A: 73 G / 43-31 / 68.1 Comp% / 7.5 Y/A / 115 TD / 55 INT
Player B: 77 G / 38-48-1 / 67.1 Comp% / 7.0 Y/A / 121 TD / 60 INT
Player A is Miami's Tua Tagovailoa and Player B is Arizona's Kyler Murray. Both are face of the franchise QB's but both are also out of favor and in need of a change of scenery. Meanwhile both have huge contracts. Numbers wise this trade seems to make sense but realistically would never happened. But if it were proposed - who says no?

Learned this morning of the passing of former VP Dick Cheney from a heart attack aged 84. Going out on a limb but thinking neither President Trump nor current VP JD Vance will attend the funeral. Also going out on a limb and saying someone at the eulogy or in print will blame Trump for Cheney's death even though Cheney was 84 with a bad heart.
