I was in a Friendly's restaurant across the street from work when a complete stranger came up to me and shook my hand. "I have to tell someone-- the US team just beat the Russians" I was amazed.
I was at the Webster Sq hockey rink for the Friday night skate and a bunch of us ended up watching it on the TV in the snack shack. Game was on tape delay but nobody knew the result

ReplyDeleteGreat moment -- I can't count the number of times I watched taped reruns of the ending of that game.
ReplyDeleteKurt Russell as Herb Brooks was one of the great roles of all time. His line (from Brooks) of "to your fucking graves" gives me chills every time.
