Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

Heh heh - I don't condone what happened to these PETA protesters but if you think throwing water balloons of fake blood and yelling things at a biker gang is a good idea - well let's just hope they learned their lesson (and yes I realize this happened in August but it is cold today and I needed a good laugh to keep me warm)...  Well if you say so... Should be pointed out that Adderall is big among poker players because it both gives them energy but also gives them focus. Think of it this way - each hand of poker is like a snap in football... There really is NO EXCUSE for Marvin Miller not being in the Baseball Hall of Fame... The average age of members of the Rolling Stones is over 68-years old. The average age of the members of the Supreme Court is over 66-years old.... How funny would it be if we find out Chris Brown was all and act and that his real manager is Andy Kaufman who faked his death. That would be the greatest story of all time.

  3. Chris,

I have to disagree with you on Miller not being in the Hall of Fame being a big deal. It is the Baseball Hall of Fame. Miller's only relationship with baseball was an adversarial one. He was obviously very good at his job (lawyering not baseballing) and if there is a Hall of Fame for Lawyers then he is very deserving of being inducted in that HoF. I wouldn't lose any sleep if they screwed up and enshrined him, but mainly don't understand fans/journalists who have been all upset and aggrieved about the perceived oversight. I get a fan of X team being upset that a favorite player didn't get full consideration for the Hall. I don't get fans giving a damn about whether some stink'n lawyer gets in the Hall of Fame. Just my two cents.

  4. Bill - when you have people like Tom Yawkey enshrined but people who had real tangible impact on the game like Buck O'Neal and Marvin Miller dying without proper recognition - then I'd say that's both unfair and a sham.
