Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

Wonder if the generation(s) raised on Harry Potter books have a deeper and more willing distrust of the media because of the way The Daily Prophet was portrayed in the books? It didn't exactly paint journalists and newspapers in the best light... You learn something new every day; "our modern word 'bridal', for instance, comes from the Old English bryd ealu or 'bride ale,' which was exchanged between bride and groom to seal their marriage"... VDH: China's Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere. Don't know how many times it has to be said but, "Don't trust China. China is asshole!"... Business idea - a Baby on Board sign but not for cars - for the back of gamer chairs. Parents with kids in their 20's still living at home would be the target market...

  1. Victor Davis Hanson makes excellent points. I have not read anywhere else of the demographics of China that may be a future issue for them. The one child policy and aging population could change a lot. Bravo VDH.

  2. I've seen some of his points elsewhere but is was an excellent summation.

Dan Carlin did an excellent description of Japan's co-prosperity sphere in his Super Nova in the East podcasts om the WWII history of the battle in the Pacific. Worth your time if you get the chance.
