I would move the quiet man up, and replace Rooster with Rio Bravo. never saw the shootist, so replace that with North to Alaska, just for the drinking scene (sorry, the I-am-not-in-love-with-her drinking scene.
I have a soft spot for The Shootist since it was his last film. Rio Bravo and Rio Lobo always seemed like the same movie to me (an observation John Travolta also made in Get Shorty)

ReplyDeleteReplace Rooster Cogburn with Red River, the quintessential western, and one of the few films where the Duke was the bad guy (if only temporarily)
ReplyDeleteI have never seen Red River (don't judge me!). Every year I say I'm going to watch it and every year I get distracted by life.
ReplyDeleteAs an aside - my daughter is 16 and has never heard of John Wayne. How quickly we forget as a society.
