I think an alternative, starting from scratch, would be a much better solution free of many of the bugs and biases that exist today on Twitter. Besides - buying Twitter would just reward those who are currently running Twitter. An alternative could have the great advantage of potentially siphoning off all the revenue of the Twitter platform today and seeing their stock plummet.
An alternative could be a hit from the start - with just Elon's name attached to it millions would join (I would right away). Keep in mind that all of Musk's business have grown to be the largest in their fields (Tesla, SpaceX) with ZERO paid advertising. The same could be true of the Twitter alternative.
