Schilling gets first win

Curt Schilling got his first win as a member of the Boston Red Sox today - going 6 innings while giving up 6 hits and one earned run while striking out 7. I am glad that Schilling gave up that one run because otherwise the temptation would have been there to leave him in beyond the 109 pitches he threw. Plus if Schilling did have a shut-out in his first game then all the Boston scribes would have been writing stories about how he is the staff ace - not Pedro Martinez.

As it is - you can expect a number of stories with that theme tomorrow. I put the over/under at three stories in the next two days. Only in Boston would you get this sort of crap two games into the season.
