Ted Williams

67-years ago today, Ted Williams reported for duty in the Korean War as a Marine Corps fighter pilot.

It would be Williams second tour of military duty after serving his country in WWII as well.

Williams is in the Baseball Hall of Fame, the Marine Corps Hall of Fame and the Fishing Hall of Fame.

Where do we find such men?

  1. The first book I read in English after moving with my parents to the US ('67) was My Turn at Bat. I've admired Teddy Ballgame ever since. He's also the reason I'm a Red Sox fan.

  2. He was John Glenn's wingman.

  3. Possibly America's greatest Mexican-American though he never seems be be thought of that way.

He also had quite an effect on Warren Buffett's investing strategy (another big fan of Teddy Ballgame).
