- Long been a fan of Burlington Mass (used to live there) but now more than ever.
- The minimum vialble Navy. And how the US could beat China.
Minimum viable navy for war with China is zero. Srsly, to ask the question what size navy do we need to beat China in a war one first has to lay out exactly what you mean by saying, "beat China" or "Defeat China." To the best of my knowledge we didn't beat them in Korea last century and just pretended we did. I cannot think of any way the US can actually "win" any war with China. It would last until we ran out of money, men and will. A couple of weeks for the former and about 3 carrier battle groups for the last one. That would vanish the will in an instant.
ReplyDeleteAgree with what you're saying. The simplists and most cost effective way for us to defeat China is to let the Indians and Japanese do it. One from the West one from the East. They have much more incentive than us to beat the suddenly aggressive Chinese. And they could easily have the means and would be happy to pay for those. Navo of Zero.
ReplyDeleteDisagree when it comes to Korea though. Read a number of history books that have indicated it was the political divisiveness of the ego of McArthur on one side and the sick of war Harry Truman on the other that actual hamstrung the Army which was suddenly finding themselves back in fighting shape. There was no way the Chinese could continue their losses the way they were. They talk a good game today but they were starting to lose political will back at home because the US was killing 20 for every loss we had. Then we sued for peace.
