Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

The past few years being out at midnight (or even awake) on New Year's Eve hasn't been a big thing for me but I like that being my choice. Not the government's. Something fundamentally wrong with that... I think a good idea for a business would be replica 3-D printed Megalodon jaws and teeth. You'd find someplace in your home to display those - wouldn't you?...  Conspicuous Stupidity would be a good name for a band (or a rather apt descriptor of this point in US history)... John C. Woods - Master Sergeant, Master Executioner, but apparently not a very competent fellow... Kamala Harris has not yet resigned her U.S. Senate seat - and neither has Joe Biden! Seriously though - why hasn't Kamala Harris resigned her Senate seat? Makes you wonder...

New Year's Eve from Times Square

If you have a blog or if you just want to "look in" to Times Square on New Year's Eve - the Times Square Alliance has some info you might be interested in:
The Times Square 2010 Live Webcast/Blogcast will begin at 5:50pm on December 31, 2009 and end at 12:20am on January 1, 2010. The show will be available at TimesSquareNYC.org and Livestream.com/2010. Additionally, the Event Organizers and Livestream are offering free, non-commercial widgets of varying sizes for bloggers, webmasters and digital media outlets to embed in their own sites as a source of fun and entertaining content on New Year’s Eve.

Five co-hosts will cover all the action in Times Square. Viewers can tune in to watch and chat live online. The video solution is integrated with social media tools Twitter and Facebook, as well as the live blogging tool CoverItLive, allowing the New Year’s Eve co-hosts to engage participants, interact with their audience and to virtually share the moment with others.

Additional information on the widgets, including the sizes and embedding codes, and web event are available on the Web at: http://www.timessquarenyc.org/nye/2010widgets.html and: http://www.livestream.com/2010.
