Just goes to show how good a director he was - 2001 would be a masterpiece for most but it didn't even crack my Top 5 for Kubrick.
Yeah, 2001 isn't everyone's cup of tea. I saw it in the theater when I was a kid, so it made a big impression on me.
I saw 2001 in the mid 80's with a date at Clack U. Kept thinking "This movie is way too long. It's killing the mood." Held a grudge ever since.
