I was an ER nurse. I had two jobs: -be good at my profession, and -convince the patient that I was (i.e. sell it) as I was doing my job. It is my firm belief that doing so improved outcomes.
I went into sales after college and though there was secret closing secrets you had to know but I quickly learned that if you knew what you were talking about and you followed up when you said you would (including when you didn't have an answer off the top of your head) then the customer would turn to you with questions that needed answering.
Once the customer turns to you to answer their questions - they are YOUR customer. That goes for every profession. Most especially in the medical field.
