Tuesday Flotsam and Jetsam

Have a new miscellaneous thoughts and observations post up on Substack.

Periodically I like to remind people that I did not originate the term "flotsam and jetsam" - it has been in use since time immemorial. Many people use that phrase - nobody owns the rights to it. In fact I took the phrase from my favorite Lord of the Rings chapter and J.R.R. Tolkien took from somewhere lese.

As always - please Subscribe, hit the Like button or share the Link. Thanks!

You know in England it was all about ownership. One was still afloat and the other was grounded on the shore. All wrecks and shore stuff belonged to the Crown, everything afloat was takeaway.

  2. Think in most cases the origin was sea based where one floated and the other washed up on shore.
