A Little Math Humor

Freud said the Irish were immune to psychoanalysis. He probably should have included the number eight as well. (Image via)

Quotes for Today

Some quotes I hope may resonate with you.

"A denied expectation hurts more than a denied hope, while a fulfilled hope makes us happier than a fulfilled expectation. Hope's got a higher return on happiness and less debit on denial, it's just not as measurable." - Matthew McConaughey

"As long as hope is without expectations or attachment, there's no problem." - Bernie Glassman

"Common sense and a sense of humour are the same thing, moving at different speeds. A sense of humour is just common sense, dancing. Those who lack humour are without judgement and should be trusted with nothing." - Clive James

"Reading is free. Exercise is free. Hard work is free. In both opportunity and real cost, it's more expensive to be dumb, fat, and broke." - Ed Latimore

21 Funny Books

Michael Wade has a list of 21 funny books. I've read 6 of the books and that doesn't count Catcher in the Rye which I've started twice but have never been able to get into (the main character was too unlikeable).

Was also not a fan of Dog of the South but humor is subjective. Going to add A Long Way Down by Nick Hornby and The Secret of Santa Vittoria by Robert Crichton to my ever increasing book wish list.

EDIT: Crap! Robert Crichton - not Michael Crichton

Here's the Kicker

Just finished And Here's the Kicker: Conversations with 21 Top Humor Writers on their Craft by Mike Sacks. This is the second time I've read this book. Can there be a better recommendation than reading a book a second time just for pure enjoyment? If you like humor, writing or the history behind some of the major comedic touchstones of the past century then give this book a read. And buy it from my links!
