AL Rookie of the Year

Here is where I see the ROY standing right now. Of course with only a third of the season gone - this could change greatly by the end of the season.

1. Lew Ford - it was supposed to be a player from Minnesota to win this award but that player was supposed to be catcher Joe Mauer. Ford is hitting .326 with 7 HR and 31 RBI. Ford also has baseball fans across America muttering the question, "Lew Ford is a white guy?"

2. Zack Greinke - on fire since being called up by the Royals. So far 1-1 with a 1.73 ERA in 4 starts. Could be this year's Dontrelle Willis.

3. Bobby Crosby - supposed to have some pop and he has shown it of late. Now has 9 HR for the season (compare that to Miguel Tejada who has 8) but Crosby is only hitting .258 (that will have to change if he's to win the ROY).

4. Kevin Youkilis - the Greek God of Walks has lived up to his name with 11 walks in 19 games. Youkilis has an OBP of almost .400 (.395) and seems to be the real deal. Youkilis' chances will probably fade as Nomar and Bill Mueller make it back to the line-up and his AB disappear.
