Quotes for Today

Some quotes I hope may resonate with you.

"Optimism sounds like a sales pitch. Pessimism sounds like someone trying to help you." - Morgan Housel

"Poor is the nation that has no heroes. But poorer still is the nation that having heroes, fails to remember and honor them." - Marcus Tullius Cicero

"For reasons I have never understood, people like to hear that the world is going to hell." - Deidre McCloskey

"People are strange. They are constantly angered by trivial things, but on major things like totally wasting their lives, they hardly seem to notice." - Charles Bukowski

  1. There's a certain irony in McCloskey's quote. McCloskey is, "herself", one of the myriad architects of a hellish world. "She" is a transgender "woman" and a ferocious advocate of transgenderism. So much so that "she" attempted to destroy the career, via lawsuits and trumped-up allegations of professional misconduct, of a man who wrote a book she disapproved of (J. Michael Bailey, "The Man Who Would Be Queen"). Bailey was a professor of psychology at Northwestern; in his book he shows how much gender dysphoria is rooted in sexual fetishes. McCloskey tried to get him fired from his post and defrocked as a psychologist. "Her" viciousness has had a profound chilling effect on people expressing the slightest reservations about transgender dogma. So much for free speech; the lunatics are running the asylum and we are, indeed, going to hell.

  2. Was not aware of that aspect of Deidre's life. Have also seen that quote attributed to others as well.
