Always Carry Bolt Cutters

"Always carry bolt cutters."

That's one of film maker Werner Herzog's 24 life lessons. The lessons are applicable no matter what you do for a living.

The line "Always carry bolt cutters" stuck with me from a recent interview that Herzog did with Eric Weinstein's podcast The Portal.  A podcast that so far has been top notch and which I highly recommend.

I enjoy moments of serendipity in my life. This past week I listened to The Portal podcast by Eric Weinstein and his first episode was a close to 3-hour discussion with Peter Thiel. It was a fascinating discussion that I will be listening to again.

Then shortly after I listened to the podcast Farnum Street posted an article on Eight Things I learned from Peter Thiel's Zero to One. Needless to say I ordered the book and it should arrive today.

Sometimes when the universe sends you signals - you should listen to them.
