  1. That letter from a restaurant owner is sad, but not for the reasons the writer laid out. His own government has kept his businesses closed for absolutely no valid reason, and he whines about the PPP money given out to others. His only solution is a massive bailout for the entertainment industry. You can lead a horse to water, but they'll just stand there and die.

  2. I think the owners made it clear that the arbitrary and draconian restrictions from both the Mayor of NYC and the Governor was a big reason for their having to shut down.

    Where I think they were naive is in thinking that NYC will bounce back. There will be a tsunami of restaurant closings and most will NEVER reopen. That takes both a lot of jobs and real estate appeal with them. People are fleeing the city, most never to return, and foreign tourists are coming because of the pandemic and domestic tourists are staying away because of the crime. Broadway is supposed to reopen in Spring 2021 but by that time NYC will be a ghost town compared to what it once was.
