    Balderdash. John Thompson was a racist asshat who - first among his many faults, even worse than promoting talent over character - singlehandedly destroyed US Olympic basketball - - the overreaction to his historic losses he oversaw contaminated the sport with US professionals. Anyone who celebrates the US team from 1992 cheers for bullys who ran up the score on overmatched opponents and laughed while doing so.
