More Linky Links

More stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- The world's best countries at science in 2026.

- How the President's Cup works in golf.

- From the archives: Life advice from a 95-year old former cardiologist. I should move my walks to the morning because something always seems to come up.

- Many a truth is said in jest.

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- Scientists create nasal spray that reverses brain aging in weeks. Involves mRNA delivery but I'd be willing to risk it if started feeling effects of brain aging or degeneration.

- How college sports built a $2 billion company. Admit I thought of the South Park episode as soon as I saw the headline.

- The Islamic Revolutionary Guards are asserting control in Iran and the strait of Hormuz. They just guaranteed that even the smallest boat of the Iranian navy will ceased to be and painted targets on their own backs.

- Gambling industry vs harm done. Two rules of gambling: never bet more than you can afford to lose and if something's not a "hell yeah!" its a hard no.

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- Science policy without science or policy. I'd like to see a DOGE-like accounting of what made up all those cuts. I want more science but not tax dollars spent of excessive university overhead in grants, DEI related studies, or funding putting beagles in cages to be eaten by fleas.

- He's not wrong.

- Ross Dellenger on Bill Belichick at UNC.

- Ultra processed food may not be the real dietary villain. Should be pointed out that food ingredients in the UK are different to what's allowed in the US. Think good advice is just to shop on the outside of a supermarket. (HT Newmark's Door)

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- Modern Societal Alarm Bells. These are true but most are reversable.

- School uses AI to teach students.

- Good question: what was Pete Buttigieg doing?

- New study finds that tea and chocolate can reduce blood pressure. I'll believe the studies I want to believe.

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- Biden lied about everything, including nuclear risk, during Ukraine war. It's revealing that a story of how the American people were lied to and nuclear war was risked remains behind a paywall for the NYT and Matt Taibbi's Racket makes the story free. It's as if one is prioritizing dollars over journalism.

- Will antiviral chewing gum replace vaccines?

- VDH explains the Liberation Day tariffs. He's not wrong.

- The Oval Office meeting - the other 40 minutes. Combining this with the first link gives a very different perspective.

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- Is Chuck Schumer in trouble? With the USAID scandal you get the feeling he doth protest too much.

- Science says light sails could reach distant star systems.

- Good advice from Andrew Huberman.

- Ron Paul on USAID. He's not wrong.
