Some interesting points made here. Some nuance may be oversimplified but in the whole I agree with the argument. 

In government and at the Federal Reserve it should be the same as with doctors - first do no harm. But instead the bankers feel they must tinker to show they're doing something. And generally there's no repercussions for when their tinkering goes wrong.

I have to wonder since it was a tandem jump if the person the instructor was jumping with was just so obnoxious that dropping to his death seemed like the best choice at the time? I know I'm an awful person for thinking that (but now you're wondering that too!)
