When I see a PI challenged mentioned in relation to preseason NFL games my mind imagines the head football coach throwing the red flag to challenge the referee to see who can name PI to the most decimal places... I like the 21/90 rule... I think the last time I went to Burger King was a couple of years ago on my birthday. I wanted one of those stupid paper crowns to wear out drinking... It's going to make many NFL fans happy (including me) when both Drew Brees (520) and Tom Brady (517) pass Peyton Manning (539) on the all-time TD pass list this season... Rio de Janeiro means "River of January". I wonder if somewhere there's a Rio de Febrero?... "Stay away from negative people. They have a problem for every solution." - Albert Einstein...

If I were a programmer my coder name would be "Biatus" and any time I hacked a system I'd leave a note "Hack from Biatus" (I have a very low bar on what I find amusing)... Interesting? Scary? The "Buffett Indicator" and why it says a market correction may be due... Still disappointed that when Burger King and Canada's Tim Horton's merged they didn't call the new company Burger Horton's... Interesting - an argument that Ken Burns PBS series on Vietnam wasn't as impartial as it claimed to be... If I ran an Artificial Intelligence company I'd call it A.I. Davis and have my "Siri" voice be that of the late Raiders owner... "The game of life is the game of everlasting learning. At least it is if you want to win." Charlie Munger... Have no idea why the Bruins have waited this long to retire Rick Middleton's number 16. And a reminder why they called him Nifty...

Has to be asked - how long before we see one of those Hitler in the bunker videos about Charlottesville?... Heh heh... Had my first Pumpkin Spice beer over the weekend. I know it's still summer and not close to fall yet but I couldn't resist... The word "overmorrow" means the day after tomorrow. What a great word! How come we never use the word overmorrow?... Heh heh... Lobster Cooch would be a good name for a B-52's cover band or a hipster seafood dish... Just a reminder - Dr. Jane Goodall believes in Bigfoot... If they do a Batman re-boot - I hope they cast Christian Bale as a villain. How cool and meta trippy would that be?... Meanwhile the Washington Post is destroying their credibility in sports too... Strip Club Chowder would be a good name for a band (or a porn movie)... Still disappointed that when Burger King and Tim Horton's merged they didn't change the name of all the franchises to Burger Horton's...

Tim Horton's and Burger King

Tim Horton's and Burger King are merging. The new company HQ will be based out of Canada. I have an idea on how this news could be played to increase Burger King's market share in the US.

The minimum wage in Canada is Province by Province. The lowest is Alberta at $9.95 Canadian and the highest is Ontario at $11 per hour Canadian. That $9.95 Canadian works out to about $9.07 in US dollars. Only the State of Washington has a higher minimum wage ($9.32) in the US.

The new combined Tim Horton's and Burger King (Burger Horton's?) announces that they will now be paying at the very least the Canadian minimum wage of $9.07 to all employees in the US. They are probably already paying that to most employees so it wouldn't cost the company very much but it would differentiate itself from McDonald's. When the Occupy Wall Street / Never Shop at Walmart crowd decide where to eat lunch - now the choice would be clear - Burger Horton's! Most of those folks live off the dollar menu anyway.

Jets fans who like Rex Ryan are like an inquus populus "a wicked, godless people" and Rex is their King...The head nurse at Emory explains why the American patients of Ebola needed to be treated in US... I went to years of Catholic school and we were never told that Saint Peter - the Rock on which Jesus built his church - the first Pope - was married... I so want the Burger King pies guy story to be true... Brown bears went extinct in England in the 10th century. I wonder if any radical environmentalists out there have proposed re-introducing them? Maybe just release a dozen or so in London and see how that goes?...
