Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- Oregon Governor sues Trump Administration in bid to stop National Guard deployment in Portland. Think its misleading to say "Oregon" as if all citizens in the state are pro Antifa or crime.

- How to respond to China's growing nuclear capability. Quickly becoming my "go-to" source for all things US Navy related.

- Matt Taibbi's Senate testimony on surveillance. Agree that ending Quiet Skies should just be the beginning.

- Is this satire?

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- The drone canary in the M.I.C. coal yard. I'm reminded how Germany was forced to disarm after WW I but rearmed using the newest technology for WW II. Sure we did this to ourselves but who's to say we can't rearm better and stronger with the latest technology?

- Russiagate releases lifting the veil on surveillance state abuses. It's pretty damning.

- Igor Babuschkin on his last day at xAI.

- VDH: Who has been destroying Democracy? He's not wrong.

- Glenn Reynolds: When the Gods of the copybook headings smile. He's not wrong.

- Matt Taibbi: The NYT can't stop sucking. The NYT is a sewer of lies.

- Totalitarian Studies are Sorely Needed. He's not wrong either.

- Replacing Relativity with High School Trigonometry. I had trouble with trig too (never mind relativity).

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- Glenn Reynolds: The route continues, but be ready for the counterattack. Like Sherman's historic race to the sea - Trump is having a historic race through the federal bureaucracy.

- Bring back the draft (well sort of). Not a fan of a draft but can't fault the argument here.

- A DC court sanctions climate scientist Michael Mann and his lawyers for misconduct.

- Matt Taibbi's interview of FIRE's counsel Tyler Coward. Long but interesting read.

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- What if Canada was Conservative? Making the Canadian military stronger is something I think everyone can support.

- From the archive:  Who was Lilith - Adam's first wife in the Garden of Eden?

- Matt Taibbi's statement to Congress. No matter your party we should all agree that censorship is wrong. Taibbi also has some observations on his testimony worth reading.

- Apple released emergency security updates last night. I was completely unaware. (HT Borepatch)

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- From the archives: Shane Parrish and the self-education of Louis L'Amour. Read and enjoyed his memoir. Came away with a great respect for the man and vow to read more books in 2025 - including some more of L'Amour's.

- Jonathan Turley on getting the US out of the censorship business.

- VDH: The National Nightmare is Ending. Amen!

- Matt Taibbi: How to fight back against the censors, Well worth your time.

More stuff that I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- Jonathan Turley on Hunter Biden's laptop. Let's no forget that there was child porn on that laptop.

- Politico (yes Politico) on the Biden family's corruption in 2017. It has never been a secret that Biden is crooked.

- Matt Ridley on why won't Greenpeace admit that wind farms are killing whales? When I was growing up Greenpeace was all about saving the whales. Now they're all about raising cash.

- Matt Taibbi on Biden v Missouri and the "New Abnormal." Long read but worth your time.

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- At the end of this NFL season Troy Aikman and Joe Buck will have been together 22-years. That's longer than John Madden and Pat Summerall - which somehow makes me feel old.

- Are Emergency Powers a test to see what Americans will put up with? Always has been. First it was interning Japanese citizens into camps, then the Patriot Act, then the Covid lockdowns. Hopefully Americans have had enough.

- Matt Taibbi on how the State has used the Patriot Act to expand its powers.

- Judge gives win to Oregon State and Washington State in Pac 12 case.

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- Matt Taibbi - GoFundMe: Go to Hell.  Now they're going after Left Wing causes. I'd never give a dime to these people. Reminder that even 503c non-profits can go bankrupt.

- If you've been exposed to RoundUp (Glyphosate) you may be depressed

- More people died from drug overdoses in 2021 than from Covid. Know the real pandemic. Trust the science!

- Steven Pressfield on Accidents

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share,

- America has reached peak therapy but our mental health keeps getting worse. Imagine how bad these most vulnerable will suffer if they try another lockdown.

- Jonathan Turley on how the charges against Chief of Staff Mark Meadows may lead to the dismissal of all charges against Trump. Good chance the move to a Federal Court is upheld and that court decides to drop all charges as spurious. DA Willis badly overplayed her hand.

- I support Taibbi and Orf against YouTube. If they can do this to them they can do it against anyone. Take a stand.

- Tucker Carlson with episode 20 on Hungary

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- 14 American cities that want to "target" real meat and dairy along with cars for elimination by 2030. Sad that Boston is on the list but no way I'm making plans to visit any of these. No more Fenway Park or TD Garden for me I guess.

- The movie The Usual Suspects came out 28-years go this week. Michael Biehn in the Stephen Baldwin role would have been an interesting change. In German-Turkish Kyser Soze can be loosely translated as "King of the Talkers" thus the name "Verbal" Kint. Get it?

- Tucker Carlson met with the President of Serbia. Have to admit that Tucker does laugh like a goofball.

- Matt Taibbi on the Orwellian change to the meaning of the word "transparency"

More stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- Truflation is a site you should check periodically.

- Matt Taibbi on Facebook allowing the Biden White House to censor content.

- I wasn't aware I was in need of a new conspiracy theory but there you go.

- Shocker - not one 8th grade student at Lebron James' I Promise School has passed state's math test in 3-years. Either these scores are due to the school only being 5-years old, the school starting in 8th grade (and the failure is really on who was "teaching" the students before) or James is much better at PR than education. Not sure.

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

-  The Sports Section is Dead. "Long live the sports section." Closely resembles my own evolution on the two announcements.

- Dan Carlin has a new Substack account (well new to me). Enjoy!

- Speaking of Substack - here's Matt Taibbi of Racket News on Where Have all the Liberals Gone? Good stuff.

- Used to enjoy Anchor Brewing but understand the move. Anchor was founded in 1886 and would not be surprised if a buyer was found and the brewery moved out of San Fran.

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- Corporate Media really has the knives out for Robert Kennedy Jr. I'll add that I think in reality RFK Jr. is probably polling at much higher than 20%. I wish I put more money down when I had him at +$600.

- Niall Ferguson - American still leads the world, but its allies are uneasy. Longish read but worth it.

- Matt Taibbi on Kurt Vonnegut and in particular Harrison Bergeron. Vonnegut is a personal favorite of mine.

- NASA finally admits climate change due mostly to changes in Earth's rotation around the sun. To be kind maybe they just learned not to argue with stupid people much earlier than most. [EDIT: this article came out in Aug 2019]
