The final college football seeding for a 12-team playoff field was released yesterday and while most oxygen is being spent on 3-loss Alabama or Ole Miss not getting in I think the bigger controversy was that Notre Dame almost went undefeated and being ranked 2nd in the polls. The Fighting Irish finished 11-1 because they unexpectedly lost to unranked NIU. They easily could have been undefeated but still denied having a first round bye. The committee dodged a bullet on that one.
