I think Sal is unable to see the end of the alliance because he spent a lifetime living it. Unfortunately, there is nothing left in Europe but iOUs. A lot of Americans see it long past the time to uncouple from NATO and the UN. Both are institutions designed and built and manned to completely ignore reality at any cost and so they do. Then the bill US.
ReplyDeleteDon't disagree but there are places like Poland that are willing to pull their weight and do their share which makes me think leaving NATO may cause more harm than good.
ReplyDeleteYou know the obvious answer. You build good relations with your neighbors for a reason. If there is one dead easy lesson in that school today it is how Ukraine decided to do the exact opposite and now we are watching most of western Europe follow the Ukraine's idiotic and stupid practice. We don't need to get pulled into that trap, again....
DeleteThink both England and France are writing checks they can't cash and the US is finally saying go ahead. You're so anxious to support Ukraine - send all your crack troops. And crickets.
DeleteThink there's been a lot of talk about the US getting out of NATO but starting to think the more likely that the EU breaks up instead as many nations are sick of all the talk and regulations.
