Get Ready for the Catastrophic DEF Shortage

DEF is the acronym for Diesel Exhaust Fluid. Every diesel truck that has been made since 2010 is required to use it... DEF is kept in a separate tank in the truck and the trucks using it will not start unless the DEF system is working properly. There are regulators inside the engine that mix DEF with the diesel exhaust to reduce diesel emissions. That's the purpose of DEF.

This is very bad news. But excellent reporting in connecting the dots.

Catastrophic Scenario For Diesel Emerging According To World's Biggest Energy Traders

Reading the article I don't see where the diesel shortages will be "catastrophic" - but it will be a problem - mostly for Europe. 

As bad as the gas price increases have been since January 20, 2021 - the increases in the price of diesel has been even worse. The more it costs for a trucker to fill his rig the more they pass on those cost increases down the line which increases the cost of the goods they are delivering. You want inflation? Because that's one way you get inflation.
