Linky Links

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- The next characters to enter the public domain. Look for Disney to make a "special" re-release of the original Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in the next couple of years as a complete money grab before the copyright runs out.

- Conversation between Tucker Carlson and Glenn Greenwald. Very interesting but be warned it is over 2 hours long.

- Some of the lies the government told about Covid-19. People should be held accountable for this misinformation.

- The story behind the College World Series Jell-O-shot competition. If you were there what team would you choose?

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- There was never a Beepocalypse

- Trillions in tax dollars hasn't made wind or solar power better or less expensive. Time for nuclear power!

- Unscientific American. Haven't even looked at the magazine in years. Long time ago they went from writing about science to writing garbage.

- Two sets of free-speech on college campuses. You can fly a Palestinian flag on college campus but not a Confederate one and you can scream "kill the Jews" but not mutter the lyrics of a popular song that says the N-word.

Some quotes I hope may resonate with you.

"Schools are quick to blame everyone and everything but themselves for the failures of American education. To them, every bad teacher is the exception and every bad parent is the rule." - Thomas Sowell

"Misinformation (noun): Anything I don't like. Conspiracy theorist (noun): Anyone who disagrees with me." - Marc Andreessen

"The future is already here, it's just not evenly distributed." - William Gibson

"I am indeed rich, since my income is superior to my expenses, and my expense is equal to my wishes." - Edward Gibbon

The Tentacles of the Social Media Octopus

VDH on the Orwellian control of social media by big tech, how propaganda has replaced news and how truth is often labeled as "misinformation." It's not surprising that the terms "fake news" and "media hoax" have become commonplace in the everyday lexicon.

Professor Hanson could easily write a companion piece on how Big Pharma warped the reporting on COVID by being the main sponsor of most news programs.
