Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- VDH: Who are really the lawless and dictatorial? He's not wrong.

- Remembering "The Stacks." I have fond memories of finding a desk to do work in a random floor of "stacks" and taking a break to peruse the stacks and pick a random book. Was it procrastination or exploration of the mind?

- Conservative Karol Nawrocki won Poland's presidential runoff - 50.89% to 49.11%. Can you imagine the AP's headline if the results were reversed?

- Trump Administration is betting on Alaskan energy. Don't underestimate the energy needs of AI data centers in South Korea or Japan. Guessing these announcements wouldn't be made if deals weren't already worked out.

Ukraine - The View from Poland

Interesting analysis and update of the events in Ukraine (remember the war is still going on).

Americans and their short attention spans have mostly replaced "thoughts and prayers" for Ukraine with thoughts and prayers of how they are going to pay for winter heating and Christmas gifts at the same time but there's still a war going on.

The effort to post and share this update is appreciated.

Update on the War in Ukraine from Poland

Interesting post giving an update on the war in Ukraine from Poland.

Some nuggets and observations; it's pointed out that "already over a million people from Ukraine fled to Poland, lesser numbers to Moldova and Romania, and surprisingly few into Russia." If this was truly a war of liberation as Putin claims - those refugees into Russia should have been much greater in number. In reality I wonder what sort of welcome any Ukrainian refugees will get in Russia especially as the sanctions really kick in.

Also echo the kudos to Poland for building an LNG facility to connect to a pipeline from Norway which will make Poland energy independent from Russia. That's something I think should be a requirement for all NATO countries moving forward.

Why They're So Afraid of the Truckers

Interesting comparison of the Canadian truckers protest to 1981's Solidarity movement in Poland. "Then, like now, academics and media were a tool of the first resort to suppress and smear political opposition."

That comparison also reminded me of how the Obama White House shunned Lech Walesa. The Left, for decades, hasn't been interested in workers rights or making life better for the middle class. Just the appearance of being for those things.

Crisis Worsens at Poland-Belarus Border

Belarus and Russia are using swarms of immigrants to destabilize and weaken Poland and other EU nations.

That same thing is happening at our southern border backed by other autocratic nations. The immigrants are mostly pawns but continued weakness at the borders just breeds more chaos. Both around the world and on our doorstep.

- Execupundit looks at the traits of a Fanatic. If you find that any of these traits describe yourself then it is time for some serious self-evaluation. If they describe any of the people in your circle of friends - it may be time to find new friends.

- So cool - good for him! Also love how the Aussies call them "scratchy tickets."

- Heh Heh - Kamala Harris already vetting VP picks

- NFL considering adding Friday night games. I've long predicted a Saturday night slate of games but I think trying to add Friday night as well would be a mistake in many ways.
