Interesting look at how a "soda tax" in Seattle led to an increase in the consumption of beer. Something similar also happened in Philadelphia when they instituted a "soda tax."
An alternative explanation is of course people in Seattle and Philadelphia started drinking more beer. These people live in Seattle and Philadelphia! And they elected people who thought "soda taxes" were good ideas! You'd drink more alcohol too!
