People just take printing for granted without knowing the skills involved in this craft. Look at a Linotype machine some time (in a museum) to see a mechanical marvel. To think a newspaper could be printed every single day and placed on your doorstep is another miracle. Look at some Youtube videos on multi color presswork. Hold a book in your hands and see how everything lines up.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. The printing press was the height of technology of its day. Yet most of the elements that went into it could not be reproduced by the average person today even though the technology is centuries old at this point.
