President Trump has threatened Canada with 100% tariffs to go into effect immediately. I would not be surprised if after the reality of what these tariffs may do to the economy the Province of Alberta asks for relief and Trump grants it - but just for a certain term which would be long enough to either vote for independence or replace Mark Carney as PM. Thinking that was the goal all along and the 100% tariff was just a ruse (but a justified one given Carney's agreement with China).
