Each morning I wake and wonder if there'll be overnight news about the fall of the regime in Iran, the government in Cuba, or a clarification of the situation in China. And each morning I'm slightly discouraged there's not. Now I'm getting worried that all three situations will choose next Sunday when I'm preparing for the Super Bowl to all resolve at once.

well, if domestically there is a long tradition of 'bad news late on Friday', it's not implausible that internationally (for already-done or predictable events) people would subscribe to 'On American Holidays' as being the best time to leak bad news.
ReplyDeleteFriday "news dumps" because a thing people actually remarked on but I think this Trump has used them for the opposite effect. Instead of trying to bury a story they try to get people talking about it all weekend if possible.
