Top 5 - Issues I Have with Field of Dreams

1. The Terence Mann character was a best selling author AND founder of a software company at a time when software companies were making money hand over fist yet never once did the character reach for his wallet. He easily could have paid off the loan on the farm but NEVER once offered to write a check. Cheap bastard!

2. If you watch carefully the Kevin Costner character builds the baseball field EXACTLY opposite to how the vision was presented to him. Home plate was supposed to be where he put the outfield. WTF?

3. Amy Madigan always reminded me of the Green Goblin in the flick. Probably just me.

4. Shoeless Joe Jackson batted left-handed and Ray Liotta batted right-handed.

5, Ty Cobb is treated very unfairly. In real life Ty Cobb was good friends with Joe Jackson.

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

July was National Beer Month and August was National Anal Sex Month (seriously - you can look it up!). They should combine those two and make September National Regrets Month... Opulence - I has it... I would pay good money to see a remake of the movie Barfly if it cast Jay Cutler in the Mickey Rourke role... If Hillary Clinton were a Harry Potter character - there's no doubt in my mind that she'd be Delores Umbridge... Heh heh - take the guy with the huge bong!... Still say that the James Earl Jones character in Field of Dreams could have easily paid off Ray's mortgage to save the farm. That cheap fuck was a best selling author AND owned a successful software company in the midst of the tech bubble. One of the things that always bugged me about that movie... Clint Eastwood is not pulling any punches...

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

Brad Pitt's mom writes anti-Obama editorial. What I love about this story is the idea that Brad Pitt's mom's vote will basically cancel out her son's vote in November but since she's from a battleground state (Missouri) her vote actually carries more weight (Brad lives in California which is sure to go for Obama)... Seth MacFarlane is making it possible for Carl Sagan's paper to be donated to the Library of Congress. Nice job Mr. Family Guy... I thought last night's Louie was pretty funny but I'm still haunted by the fact that the woman who played Louie's girlfriend last week was the little girl from Field of Dreams. I know Gaby Hoffman is now 30 but she'll always be little Karin Kinsella in many ways (I also find it creepy that Louie was college aged when Field of Dreams came out)... How all 57 50 states got their names... Tom Glavine had a career batting average of .186. Meanwhile Richie Weeks of the Brewers is hitting just .192 (and it was .182 last week)... Sam Trickett won $10.1 million for coming in second place in the WSOP One Drop Million Dollar Buy-in event but later that night gets beat up by six guys. I'd love to know the whole story on this...

Linky Links

Here's some stuff I found interesting and thought I'd share.

- Joe Posnanski nails exactly how I felt about Cleveland watching those last couple of minutes.

- Bruce, Lady Gaga, Sting, Elton, Blondie, Shirely Bassey sing Journey. Yeah you read that correctly. Like a train wreck on stage.

- This thread had some laugh out loud pictures.

- Rangers plan to place Garko on waivers. Makes me wonder if the Mike owell for Max Ramirez deal could be back on sometime soon.

- Here's your roller derby primer (including the reason nobody wears #1)

- Heh heh

- Iowa Kinsella Baseball Diamond For $5.4 Million (it should sell for a discount since Kinsella built it exactly opposite the way the vision showed him)

- Incredible! Bobby Bonilla Still Owed $30 Million in Salary
