Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- Marvel remember the passing of Patrick Stewart. No mention of Captain Pickard role (understandable).

- Of all Elon Musk's companies - Neuralink is often the most overlooked. But may prove to be the most consequential.

- How can Liberals effectively govern a country and a people that they hate? When people tell you who they are - believe them.

- DoorDash acquires InstaCart for $17 billion.

The Election of 1824

"When the 261 electoral votes were counted, none of the candidates received a majority. [John Quincy] Adams carried New York and New England with 84, [Andrew] Jackson stood first with 99, [William] Crawford had 41, and [Henry] Clay had 37. That meant for the second time in twenty-five years, the election would be thrown into the House of Representatives...

John Quincy Adams was elected, thirteen states to eleven. Adams had picked up all six states that had not been initially committed and became the first minority president in the nation's history.

...When Adams did appoint Clay to the state department, Jackson's supporters were predictably furious. John Randolph called it a corrupt bargain: 'the combination of the puritan with the blackleg.' Clay challenged Randolph to a duel. Both fired at each other, and fortunately both missed. Such was the presidential transition of 1825." - John Marshall: Definer of a Nation

And we think politics is divisive today!

- Army head football coach Jeff Monken rewarded with a new 5-year contract. Good for him!

- Jonathan Turley on Hakeem Jeffries and rage politics. Hakeem supports term limits for the Supreme Court but has anyone asked if he also supports term limits for Congress?

- Charles Noble was quite a man. He should be better known.

The Trump Platform

Hard to argue President Trump hasn't done exactly what he said he'd do if re-elected. Why are some so surprised at some of his actions when he put them all down clearly in black and white. Maybe it's just that pundits and talking heads are so surprised at a politician doing just what they promised the voters he'd do?

- Trump poised to fill two influential appeals court vacancies. Judicial appointments are perhaps the most long lasting legacy's for a President.

- Mandelson's downfall one of the fastest ever seen in British public life. Will the links to Jeffrey Epstein prove to be the nail in Ken Starmer's political coffin?

- Law of universal uniqueness.
