- The GOP had their first Presidential debate last night and The Free Press does a review. Their analysis is the Vivek surged but the real winner was Donald Trump who wasn't even there. Admit that I watched neither the debate nor Trump's appearance on Tucker Carlson. Played pitch and watched the Red Sox instead.

Leaked emails reveal twists in the Australian Open vaccine drama. Supposedly nobody who wasn't "double vaxxed" would be allowed into the country but now it looks like some exceptions may be made.
World Number One Novak Djokovic has not revealed his vaccine status (good for him) and his participation may be in question. And why would a person of Djokovic's stature and accomplishment want to quarantine himself for 14-days in a hotel as the exceptions require? If Djokovic and others decline to participate or are not allowed to participate - the winners of the Australian Open should have a huge asterixis next to their names in the record books.
If I were in Djokovic's shoes - I'd hold a competing tournament at the same time as the Australian Open and hold it in one of the Nordic countries that has completely removed all COVID restrictions. I'd sell the TV rights to this competing tourney and use those funds to pay the participants. The IFT (International Tennis Federation) should question why Australia has one of the four tennis major tourney's in the first place. Open up a competition to replace Australia and generate so much more exposure and interest for the sport. Australia has no one to blame but themselves. Going forward the Australian Open should be relegated to the status of a local tourney and nothing more.

- Why I am Suing UCLA. Higher ed is a mess. Much of the problem resides in middle-management bureaucrats who bring nothing to the table except costs. Hope he takes UCLA for millions.
- Think calling the vaccine booster shot a "third, guaranteed lethal injection" is a bit much but the anecdotal evidence is troubling. And keep in mind there's no legal repercussions to Pfizer if that third shot is lethal to someone. (HT American Digest)

- NY Governor Hochul declares healthcare worker shortage of her own making. So it went from "two weeks to flatten the curve" (so hospitals and hospital workers wouldn't be overwhelmed) to now the firing of unvaccinated healthcare workers which is overwhelming the healthcare system. Makes zero sense (and we're allowing it to happen)
- Jonathan Isaac is now one of my favorite NBA players. How can you argue against what he said?

Harsh but fair... Wonder what videos would pop up if you typed "Ayn Rand" into the search bar on YouPorn or PornHub? May have to check that out. That would be amusing to me. Replacing the search words with "Nancy Pelosi" would be terrifying... The vaccines are safe (unless it kills you)... The Olympics stopped having motor boating as an official even back in 1908. That's too bad because that's one activity I could excel at. Wait - what? Not that kind of motor boating? Well never mind then... Please Justice Breyer - hang in there for 3 more years... And people still wonder why there's so much lingering distrust over the vaccines... One reason the governments of Australia and New Zealand were able to force full lockdowns on the citizens is because there is no Second Amendment in either country. Think about that...

The Democratic Party really seems to be in a pickle. It is becoming increasingly clear that Joe Biden is cognitively not up for the job but also clear that Kamala Harris is so unpopular that she might become a boat anchor for the entire party. What to do? What to do?... And I wrote the above before reading this article from Victor Davis Hanson. Perhaps great minds think alike (or maybe the problem is just that glaringly obvious despite what the media is not telling us)... I always wanted to visit Australia but after the latest lockdown - not so much anymore... McDonalds says all CUSTOMERS and employees in high COVID areas must wear masks no matter vaccination status. McDonalds stock down $8 since announcement ($244.69 on 8/2 and $236.00 on 8/3). Sure it's unrelated... Celebrity Death Match used to be a big show on MTV. I enjoyed it but today I'd really like to see a Celebrity Rascal Scooters Racing with the first match between Rob Reiner and Rosie O'Donnell. You'd watch that - wouldn't you?... I predicted a couple of weeks ago that failing or struggling brands would try to boost exposure or revenues by simply rebranding themselves by adding a "+" sign or the word "Plus" to the end of their name and shortly thereafter we saw Outside+ and the joke that is CNN+. Now we see the media trying to rebrand the Delta variant as the Delta Plus variant. What does that say about the seriousness of the variant and the lack of the public buying into new lockdowns?...

So Australia is shutting down the entire country after one new COVID death. By that logic shouldn't all Australian beaches be shut down indefinitely after each shark attack?... And speaking of, "Australia: founded by convicts who 230 years later decided they really, really missed prison." - David Burge... Is it just me or does it seem that The New York Post is becoming America's paper of record?... Occasional Cannibalism would be a good name for a punk band... One of the things Teddy Roosevelt, Ronald Reagan and Abraham Lincoln all had in common was a staunch belief in nuclear deterrence... This is what is meant by horse power... Look for the number of air-rage incidents on flights from states without legal marijuana to skyrocket in 2021 until airlines resume alcohol sales on planes. So many people need that in order to fly comfortably... Tools for Mood Regulation would also be a good name for a band... In Loki season 2 the god of mischief tricks an entire timeline into believing that wearing a bird's nest or a live cat as a hat is fashionable. Must see TV...

Every time I see Lebron James' beard I keep waiting for Spike Lee to announce he's signed Lebron to play Ahab in an all-black production of Moby Dick... God help us indeed!... When is Consumer Reports going to do an all tazers issue? I only want to buy the best... I've said this for a long time but I think all candidates for Congress should first have to take and pass the citizenship test immigrants take as part of the Naturalization process. And the results should be made public. That would both weed out candidates who don't know our history or how our system works (looking at you Maxine Waters) but also provide an easy metric for people on the fence to make a choice (pick the candidate with the higher score)... Sad but true... Nitwit! Blubber! Oddment! Tweak! (Those words will always be magical to me)...
