Player Comparison

Here's comparison that occurred to me the other morning:

Player A: Passing Yards 3,127 / Passing TD's 36/ Rushing Yards 1,206/ Rushing TD's 7

Player B: Passing Yards 3,365 / Passing TD's 21 / Rushing Yards 629 / Rushing TD's 6

Those stats are from both quarterbacks sophomore NFL seasons. Player A's stats are a little better than Player B's which partly explains why Player A was named NFL MVP for that season while Player B came in second in MVP voting in his season.

You may have guessed that Player A is Lamar Jackson while Player B is Donovan McNabb. Interesting to note that both players are about the same size (McNabb was a little heavier and maybe stronger while Lamar is faster) but both players also led their teams in rushing for those seasons. Donovan McNabb seems to be the natural comparison to Lamar Jackson in my eyes.

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

The phrase "parts unknown" has fallen off a cliff in usage in this country. It was in vogue in the Old West describing the origins of good and bad guys alike. Then later to describer where masked wrestlers were often from. Perhaps in the modern day the phrase can be reborn as a gender designation... We are coming up on the one year anniversary of Lamar Jackson suing Amazon for selling unlicensed merchandise using his likeness and registered trademarks. I wonder how that lawsuit is going... I'm giving up betting on the Boston Celtics for the rest of Lent. Wish I could have made this retroactive before Sunday's awful loss where they blew a 24-point lead...  I need to read more Robert Heinein... I wish I could bet that Kamala Harris won't be the Democratic nominee in 2024. Getting about 3 to 1 odds sounds about right. Just don't see it happening...

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

Like many Patriots fans I hoped the team would use either the 23rd or 31st pick on QB Lamar Jackson. However, as I am not qualified to be an NFL GM and New England has enjoyed a small amount of success over the years - I will trust that Bill Belichick knows what he's doing... Staring at boobs is one of six easy ways for men to live longer. Yay! Boobs! (Although I think number three on the list can just as easily lead to an early death for men)... Heh heh... Congrats to Red Sox great Kevin Youkilis on going back to college to get his degree... Seven reasons Donald Trump should pardon Martha Stewart. Would love to see this happen... I would really like to see a KFC commercial with Jeff Goldblum as the Colonel... Black women were more likely to be married than white women until 1970. That's when they started voting for the Democrats. Just saying...
