Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- The price of forgetting. Colleges are purposefully miseducating our youth and this is the price we pay. Stupidity across the board.

- Words from Tim Wakefield

- Cool tips

I would actually like to learn more about this urban wind turbine

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

One of the reasons teachers unions are so adamant against cameras in the classrooms is because they know if parents actually saw the education their children were getting there would be an explosion of home-schooling in response... When people want to know what the 1970's were like... Always chuckle when I recall that Adolph Hitler's sister-in-law was named Bridget. Bridget Hitler. That just makes me laugh because I keep thinking it's actually the name of an Irish punk band... Aggressive Prophesies would be a good name for a sports betting website... Still say that "murmumation" should't just apply to starlings but also to how "news" organizations all seem to shift to carry the same story lines at the same time... Got my copy of the Phil Steele's College Football 2021 Preview magazine in the mail yesterday so that means I'll be happily immersed in college football minutia and scouting reports for the next few weeks..

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

In the wake of the Patriots Super Bowl victory many sports journalists were saying this season may have been the best coaching job in Bill Belichick's Hall of Fame career. Yet many of these very same journalists never (including this season) vote for Belichick as NFL Coach of the Year... You seriously have to wonder if the reason the Catholic Church in the US isn't excommunicating politicians who claim to be Catholic yet who also publicly support later term abortion is because the church is afraid those politicians would retaliate by going after the church for protecting pedophile priests... Speaking of the church - oral sex promoted in the Bible!... Still think that a sitcom about All-State's Mayhem guy dating Progressive's crazy girlfriend Flo would be worth watching... "The Constitution only gives people the right to pursue happiness. You have to catch it yourself." - Benjamin Franklin... Adolph Hitler's sister in-law was named Bridget. Bridget Hitler. That just sounds funny to me. Like the name of an Irish punk band... 15 years ago today. I wonder if any other athlete from that issue is still active in their sport (never mind still playing at MVP levels)...

- Churchill in Hitler's bunker. (Via)

- Scientists say "Planet Nine" can't hide much longer. The hypothetical planet is supposed to be 10-times the mass of Earth and 50-times further from the Sun than Pluto

- This is the best

- Cool - a way to remember deep time

- Europe wants to mine the moon by 2025. There is a new space race going on.

- Interesting Michael Caine interview. Seems I've read many of those answers before though.

The KKK and Dental Hygeine

What the heck Amazon?

Jeez - just come right out and say it!

Holy crap? Seems like the only thing left is for Amazon to start saying customers who bought this also bought copies of Mein Kampf.

Father's Day Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations on Father's Day.

So today is Father's Day and yesterday was Flag Day. So does that make this the Flags of our Fathers weekend?... Cool - ant pushing a droplet of water... Chuck Noll was one of the greatest coaches in NFL history. Too bad he had to die to remind people of the fact... Interesting - before Hitler who did people use as the embodiment of evil... So when is Jake Peavy going to be cast in a movie as Jeremy Renner's older more psychotic brother?... Flying car - only 1 owner - just 22 light years on odometer... The Red Sox are only 4.5 games out of the AL Wildcard... NHL team logos get Simpsons treatment...

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

Since Kevin Youkilis was traded every MLB team has been involved in a trade except the Padres, Nationals and Mets. San Diego signed an extension with Huston Street and surprisingly was not a seller, the Nationals got back Jason Werth from the DL which is like adding the best available bat meanwhile the Mets have pretty much done nothing... MLB team Facebook pages get hacked. Tasteless yet amusing... Interesting - according to Peter Gammons if Craig Brelow throws to Ryan Lavarnway - it will be the first Yale battery since the 19th century... Wow - the hubris. Soyndra official referred to the Obama Administration as "Bank of Washington." All that taxpayer money down the drain... The plot thickens. According to Rob Bradford - Will Middlebrooks has not made two errors in one game this season - never mind two in one inning. So what was Bobby Valentine talking about? If that big detail isn't true - then what else was fabricated?... Cool - 24 vintage pictures of Abraham Lincoln... Adolph Hitler's sister-in-law was named Bridget - Bridget Hitler. That just sounds funny. Like it should be the name of an Irish punk band... According to MoneySupermarket - it would cost $282 million to be Batman...

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

U.S. History - According to Facebook... The Space Shuttle is perhaps the most recognizable symbol of a benevolent United States in the world. You show anyone anywhere a picture of the shuttle and they immediately think of the US. It has become perhaps even more recognizable than the Statue of Liberty (people no longer go through Ellis Island). Cutting the Space Shuttle program is a big mistake (if even just for the public relations impact)... For anyone who hates assholes that text in theaters... JD Drew will make over $94 million for his career. He has been selected to just 1 All-Star game over his 14-year career. Has there ever been a player paid more who only made 1 All-Star game?... I seriously doubt there's a truck-full of demand for this product... I admit that every time I'm in an elevator that has a female computer voice that says, "Going down." I have dirty thoughts... Interesting article on Ernest Hemingway. It reminded me of the quote, "Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't after you”... Speaking of Hemingway - his first book The Sun Also Rises was originally called Fiesta and then The Lost Generation. In England it was published as Fiesta... Cool- Videos Shot From Cameras Mounted on the Tips of Fireworks... Adolph Hitler's sister-in-law was named Bridget. Bridget Hitler. That just sounds funny. Like the name of an Irish punk band... Speaking of Hitler - Interesting read about an inch of hair that represents infinite evil
